Graduate Students Explore Sustainable Waste Solutions at LimaDOL Upcycling Farm

Graduate students enrolled in M235-Sustainable Enterprises visited LimaDOL Upcycling Farm in Catalunan Grande, Davao City, on May 3, 2025. The students learned the sustainable solution for upcycling community food waste on-site. 

A demo on composting using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae was conducted to showcase an efficient and sustainable method of organic waste management. Meanwhile, a talk was delivered by CEO Mr. Peter Damary to 19 students from the Master in Management and MS Food Science programs. 

The faculty-in-charge, Dr. Ligaya R. Leal, tasked her students to prepare a Sustainability Action Plan on the assigned areas of Operation and Community Partnership, Production of animal feeds, Production of potential protein sources for human consumption, Marketing, and Industry Analysis.

The said visit provided students with practical insights into sustainable waste management and upcycling, equipping them to develop actionable strategies through their Sustainability Action Plans.
